What is Happening in Dolltown?
Image
The Eiffel Tower model, from our Dolltown super supporter April, is done. It's up! All the way to the tip top!
In January, the Little Darlings spent several sessions with pencil crayons filling in the butterflies, flowers and birds with rainbow colors. The girls enjoyed that a lot...
Then we waited for the warm weather and started setting the tower up. And it took 6 sessions! We stalled over the possibility of adding glitter, then got on with it just "plain".
This Eiffel Tower is anything but plain!
The girls are in their pretty sundresses for the Eiffel Tower final stages...and the reveal!

What Else is Happening in Dolltown?

Here is Xennia in one of the first dresses that arrived in Dolltown. It arrived before any of the Little Darlings! I knew the LD's arrived in their undies, most of them. So I was ready...
This dress is from Calico Closet on eBay.
Several girls have worn it, but Xennia has decided it is her favorite dress...
And she kicked up a fuss again when it was time for her to come in and change to a sundress.
Okay, let's get real. I am the one who loves this dress on Xennia! I was the stubborn one in this story. Taking a few photos to capture the moment helped me get over it. For now...
I went back to Calico Closet after buying this dress and brought home a couple more outfits, with props, like a skipping rope, and a clipboard....
I still want to go back to get one with a tennis racket, some day!

Well, next week it'll be about the sundresses.
But I want to show these little Amigasdolls from the Paola Reina company in Spain.
They are almost the same size as the Little Darlings, both about 13".
So there is lots of sharing of the Little Darling clothes! And the Amigas came with really cute clothes to share with their LD friends.
Amigas cuties...a Liu, a Dasha, and an Abigail!
In a simple TKCT dress, and two cute Prairie Moon dresses, all on eBay...

Things are looking up! Our photos are right side up here...for good. We found a trick!
We have adjusted to the album photos being sideways as long as when we post they show up right.
Okay, so You-Know-Who is still doing sideways-photos workarounds. But we are all happier!
And we are super happy because the Eiffel Tower is up, finally! And it is super pretty!
Everyone in Dolltown wants their photo taken with it...
Y-K-W thinks just the Little Darlings and their boy friends are coming for the group photo. But there is a flocking to the Eiffel Tower. It's a real attraction!
think it is going to turn in to a party...
I gotta go!
I'm going to go and find a pretty dress!
What's up next week?
The group photo of all the Eiffel Tower builders, with the Eiffel Tower, of course!
I know I'm going to be there...
And photos of Sam's new friend from Africa I hope!
And more photos of the babies in the Play Yard...so cute!

Customer Review by Pen Name Whether you have an antique china head doll or a vintage GI Joe, this Guide to Dolls is an identification and price guide that's worth having. It seems to replace the Blue Book of Doll Values that Jan Foulke has become known for. (Her last Blue Book was the 16th edition.)However, don't let the name of the book fool you, it is just as comprehensive as the Blue Books and is still packed with a lot of photos to help you identify your existing dolls (or those you may be considering purchasing). The first few pages cover doll collecting in general -- what to look for. Ms. Foulke then provides a few brief suggestions for buying and selling dolls at auction before getting into the meat of the book--the price guide.

The book lists dolls by manufacturer and by mold number in case that's all you have to go by. Each doll or type of doll includes a reported price or price range for a doll in good condition.

Whether you are an avid doll collector or someone just trying to clean out the attic, you may want Jan Foulke at your side before buying or selling your dolls.

Do you have a Jan Foulke's book?

I'd love to hear what you think of it and how you use it!

The 225 photos (32 pages in full colour) and 159 illustrations will help the collector, dealer, or any interested individual to discover not only when a doll was made but also where it was made and who made it. Get together for a photo in the garden!
Way to go girls!
Nobody could say you weren't the stars ofthis project!
You needed very little guidance or help for most of the effort.
And I think you made good decisions along the way, like organizing the crayons, and putting away the glitter, for now.
The Eiffel Tower model is just like a Little Darling! Sturdy but light. Very pretty, And you have to keep it out of the sun and bring it in at night.
We love it, April!
Wish Little Darling Conner could have joined us!
Wait, what is that sound in the sky over the garden?

Little Darlings in the prettiest sundresses, with flowers, polkadots, lace...
Fashion Dolls Stylist April, who has seen some of the pictures says the girls look like the Eiffel Tower!
And here's a sundress that has no flowers, but still goes well with the Tower. Pearl chose to wear the Mondrian dress we got last spring. Last year Jiyoon wore this artsy dress, created by Alison Austin.
Pearl has worn the white cotton eyelet dress that Chantal is wearing this year. Faith is wearing the first sundress we got in Dolltown for the LD's arriving.

The beauttiful Eiffel Tower will be in many of our photos over the next couple of weeks!
And we began with the Little Darlings in their pretty sundresses!
There are photos of each of the girls. And the boys are on their way.
I have heard a rumour that You-Know-Who is pouring over photos and murmuring things like, "What?", and "How does that even happen?"
And musing about "another trick that April seems to have played on us". With a smile..
I am very curious! What is up?
But I am in the dressing room and can't follow that story until I am done here...
I want to be all dressed and ready soon. We are expecting news of a new Leo addition to our family. Not a well behaved Dolltown doll, but a r-e-a-l squirmy little Leo.
But we only get to see it on Facetime. It is a time-lapse baby and will be born a day ahead of us. Somehow...

Blessings for babies
Next week?
Well, we are still waiting to be introduced to our new African doll. And her baby...
Sam is beyond excited! A fellow countryman, or country woman, and compatriot babies!
And the boys of course. I have to be at the Eiffel Tower for that! They are hilarious, tripping over themselves to stand next to their favorite girls. Oh, they try to hide it, but I can tell. I am a studlier of doll behaviour. Here's a secret about dolls...just check to see who's beside whom, when you come back into a room or get up in the morning. I'm just saying...

It's Conner!
Conner, our Little Darling attending April's Design School for Girls, arrived by Dolly Express!
You remember we heard a buzz in the air last week? Apparently April's Barbie Divas arranged for Conner to visit while we are celebrating the Eiffel Tower completion!
Last week we said "Wish Little Darling Conner could have joined us!", and before we could say "Eiffel Tower" Conner showed up to join her Little Darling buddies.
Of course we took more photos with Conner here, in her pretty Fashion Doll Stylist designed flowered dress! And after a good visit, with Conner sharing her Paris stories, and with our Dolltown girls describing all their steps to make the Eiffel Tower, Conner was on her way back to Detroit.
She said she had to get back to help April and her divas and dudes with their next blog post...all about the latest men's fashions (turned into Ken fashions!).

Undeen, one of our three Amigas, got a new hairstyle!
Even though I loved her long black hair streaked with green and purple, I love this short purple bob more.
Just as well, because I had to cut her rooted hair right to her scalp. No turning back!
If you pop over to Hiya Dolly, you'll see several choices we had for the hair change.
We didn't need to do anything with this cute face, with its mauve cheeks and lips.

Well, there was a sound in the air last week! The sound of the Dolly Express, air travel specifically for dolly trips when humans can't make it. Imagine Conner on her own private jet! What?!
Conner was still here in Dolltown when April sent the Eiffel Tower model at Christmas. But Conner was boxed up and sent off to April's Design School before the model coloring even started in January.
And the girls here were planning the tower model building while Conner was in Paris with the real Eiffel Tower!
It was such a short visit Conner didn't even stay for snacks. Or to hang out with the boys.
But that's what I am ready for! The Little Darlings and their boy buddies... Floora and I are all set up ready at the Eiffel Tower! There's photos of us!
There are also photos of the chubby cheeked Amigas. Such nice girls! And then they went off to prepare some summer snacks!
Do you think that the little Amigas' interest in food and cooking has anything to do with the fact that they are themselves vanilla scented? It makes one wonder...
We are still sending Blessings for Babies.... We are waiting for You-Know-Who's first grandchild, a real live chubby cheeked baby.
Coming real soon (But not here. Around the world, down under as they say)
Next week?
Yes, we are still waiting to be introduced to our new African doll. And her baby...
And the LD's and the boys are on their way. Who's first? Faith and Chantal I bet, and so we know Douglas will be there, because Chantal and Douglas have been buddies for a long time. Hmmm, who else I wonder?

The boys at the Eiffel Tower!
Our Chris Williams and Robin Woods boys are joining the Little Darlings at the completed Eiffel Tower.
They all helped, to some degree! It depended on who they were helping....
Will helped Birdy put the top on the first level. But Badger and Owen only got to watch Scout, Evie, and Lula...
Here, Geoff is happy to stand near Faith. She's not so sure!
Chantal and Douglas have been friends forever here in Dolltown!

What is Happening in Fashion in Dolltown?

The story, once again, is what is NOT happening in fashion in Dolltown!
Owen here, is wearing corduroy pants! And he is one of several boys whose pants are too hot for our summer weather!
Thank goodness we made them these cool sleeveless Ts and they can wear the girls' runners, instead  (although their widhe girls are in sandals.
But soon it will be beach time! What are we going to do?
I asked Scout and her friends to collect bottles to cash in, telling her it was for a good cause. (It is!)
I am getting the Amigas to set up a lemonade stand.
They are working on it.
I asked the boys to go around the neighborhood and offer to do odd jobs....
So far that has not been too successful. No one seems to think that a 14" doll can be useful. But I did say odd jobs....

Dolltown Goings On
Miley's Musings...
Image
Well, it was a fun week, just as I thought it would be!
Lula climbed up the Eiffel Tower so she could touch the top! And Owen was good enough to help. lol Then they went off to hunt frogs.
Evie got fed up with moony Badger giving flowers to Scout, and ran off to catch up to Lula.
thought my favorite was Faith, doing her best to stay clear of Geoff (who has a crush on her).
But there are some photos, not posted yet, of Douglas and Chantal getting downright chummy! They might even have been handholding! They are the LAST pair I would imagine getting affectionate. Usually they just read to each other. Or Douglas listens to her play the piano while he builds model ships. (We called on Chantal to read the French instructions for the building of the Eiffel Tower, but we also asked Douglas' advice with the pictures.) Check out the teaser photo below. I told You-Know-Who shehas to post the photos!
Those Blessings for Baby? You-Know-Who's first grandchild, a real live chubby cheeked baby, did arrive this week. But it seemed to arrive on two different days. Here we heard the news on the 24th, and there, down under, it was the 25th. Will somebody please explain that to me again! It wasn't twins! Perhaps a baby with some kind of special powers! Now, that's exciting!
Next week? More LD's and more boys are on their way to the garden.
Who's next? Zoey and Pearl, with Chris! I know because I could see them on their way. Hmmm, who else I wonder? Tink and Xennia I'm pretty sure.
And we'd love to see more Dolltowners!

From the Amazon Summary:
This book guides the reader through the "elementary" clues for solving the mysteries of dolls. These clues will help you to determine what materials were used for the head, body and hair, and the category of the doll in question. You will learn how important the length of a doll is in determining when it was made. The 225 photos (32 pages in full colour) and 159 illustrations will help the collector, dealer, or any interested individual to discover not only when a doll was made but also where it was made and who made it. The Makers and Marks Section includes 162 doll makers and manufacturers with information including mould numbers, sizes, manufacturing dates and references for over 1600 dolls. This book is an invaluable source for anyone who owns a doll or dreams of owning one. It is a "must have" for anyone who is curious about dolls.
This book will be arriving in Dolltown soon!

A Good Read!

A mystery solved by two adventurous doll friends. I like the way the author handles doll characters coming alive when the humans are asleep or absent. A doll oath...hmmmm.
