MDCC 2016 Little Darling Convention Doll!
Recently, some happy doll collectors returned from MDCC, the Modern Doll Collectors Convention, with dolls.
And several of these dolls are available now on the Open Market (eBay).
This little cutie is a #3 sculpt from Dianna Effner.
The #3 is the smiling girl and this one is adorable...scrunchy smiling eyes and curly hair!
This is a Convention doll, which means she is copied from the Dianna Effner original and made in a factory. It is still a limited edition.
She is called Little Colonel, after an old Shirley Temple movie. And she's wearing a very sweet purple dress with black tights and an apron.
There are several for sale today. Just look up Dianna Effner Little Darlings.
There are also several Dianna Effner Boneka dolls for sale, from the MDCC convention. The Bonekas are 10.5" and make great little sisters for the Little Darlings!
Very cute.

And hanging out on the Fall Path is a new friend for the Dolltowners!
Our Little Darlings are the first to greet him...
Tink and Xennia are very surprised! Haven't they been frog searching all summer?
And here is one...fishing? On the Fall Path?
With a colorful Duck friend...
Hey Big Frog! I hope that is a catch and release!
And look at those big books you are using as a stool! Tell us what you've been reading...
Little story posted this week coming up!
This diorama is made up of a canvas print from a second hand store. And a piece of outdoor carpeting Our new frog is from a friend's moving sale.

Well, we hoped to show you the boys ready for school, or the children...
But they are still straggling!
So we are happy to show you Scout in ournew Autumn outfit. Plaid kilt with a gold pin, matching tam, yellow sweater with button and embroidery decorative touches. And yellow tights and green shoes.
This is a wonderfully versatile outfit from Linda Healey at amgirliam on eBay.
The sweater is so nice, and we have so few for our Dolltowners, that we have talked to Linda about making a few more.

Time to take action. The temperature dropped below freezing last night!

We had a very busy week again...but maybe we always have busy weeks!
You-Know-Who was getting ready for her own doll, er, daughter, coming for a visit.
So, here I am looking after the LD's in the Schoolroom.
Sure, Teacher Sky was there for part of the time...practising her morning songs ready for the onslaught. I mean the arrival of the children.
But part of the time she was off collecting Math textbooks and sharpening pencils for Cursive Writing class.
Teacher Sky didn't even notice Lula and Evie climbing on the books instead of reading them! Girls!
So, it was left to me to line up the Little Darlings and bring them in two by two for photos. And put out activities for their first day of school. And keep an eye on them on the Fall Path...
Do I get a paycheck for all this extra work?
No, I get to hear all the funny stories, help the girls sort out their little scraps, and I've had enough hugs to last me a lifetime. A doll's lifetime. That's a long time!
But, I'll probably get MORE hugs next week!
The Ellowynes were, not only neglected this week, but MOVED right out of the way to make room for a human. That's doll life for you.
They don't seem to care much, up on their high shelf again.
They have each other! Endlessly amused...
What is coming up this week?
It's time to get those boys to school!
Last week the Iples said they going to be away taking new security training on their home planet. I still can't believe that!
But since they aren't on their shelf, I'll have to take them at their word.
So You-Know-Who found some old photos from last October, for Throwback Thursday... So we don't miss them too much.
By the time you read this, that post should be up!
The photos posted this week...

These adorable nesting dolls...
We are tracking down info on some very cute Russian Matryoshka dolls we saw on Instagram...
So, what I have so far:
Instagram photos
eBay store
Some info from the pdf:
We are preparing for creativity, handmade :) Matryoshka is turned from basswood (other name is linden) and hand painted with high-quality gouache paint (tempera). Some details are made with the use of decorative foil. Every russian doll is covered with 3 layers of non-toxic glossy varnish! Worldwide delivery.
I want to spend a little more time learning about these lovely dolls. It's been a long time since we had a set of nesting dolls.
And my girls are already spending time, pouring over the pdf like a Sears catalogue and telling me which ones they want to bring home to Dolltown...

What's new?
No, the question  is....who's gone?
Our Little Darling Maggie left for Vancouver island for short stay. And then, she will go away to London, with daughter Tasya.
To live! That's England.
For months!
Now, we went through this with Lula, who headed off to Australia last November with daughter Lani!
And after living for months in Melbourne and traveling to New Zealand and Indonesia, Lula returned in the summer with 7 Maori warrior babies, and tales of adventures...caves, cliffs, spiders, and getting flatland lost....
Several other Dolltowners have traveled with aunties, but most return within days.
Maggie made the decision to go, even though she was warned how far away it was. We showed her maps, we googled. But in the end, she decided she liked Tasya...her long brown hair and straight bangs, how fast she talks. (And there's a cat to play with in T's London flat.) So Maggie decided to keep Tasya company.
Dolltown is all about experiences, adventure, learning...we had to support Maggie.
So, we all said goodbye, hugs all around, and then Maggie was wrapped in a silk scarf and tucked away for the trip.
We love you, Maggie!
No Lula, I am NOT putting you in a box and mailing you back to Lani and Fin in Australia! You and your babies. You are stuck with us!
At least for now!

Cozy sweaters in Dolltown...
In our quest for warm sweaters, we found a new source on eBay. Last week we showed you a cute plaid kilt outfit from Linda at amgirliam on eBay.
The sweater with it was so nice we made a special order and these fall colored sweaters arrived in time for freezing nights here.
Each sweater is a little different.
And a simple sweater can make our basic sleeveless dresses useful in the cold seasons.
They make our wardrobe even more versatile.
Which is important when we have to dress lots of Dolltowners!

Here I am saying goodbye to Maggie!
And Lula is giving her travel tips.
What a turn of events!
The girls had finally gone back to school (October! Only in Dolltown!)
Maggie and BFF Jiyoon were settled in playing with dice and making probability guesses.
But then the girls heard Tasya telling stories of her life in London...studying psychology (one of Maggie's favorite subjects), teaching rock climbing (inside and out), and traveling to Greece...
Next thing we knew Maggie got dressed in black (like T does), grabbed a climbing rope, and sat right on Tasya's pillow the day before she was due to leave.
It worked. The next morning Maggie packed her flats in her backpack, stuffed in a tshirt dress, and put on a pair of brown boots.
You-Know-Who has a photo of them running for the plane...
What is coming up this week?
The boys are dressed!
The children too....finally!
Off to classes!
Last week the Iples returned from their otherwordly trip, but they are languishing.
Waiting for the darkness to come closer.
They love Halloween...feels so normal for them.
The photos posted this week...
And Tink and Xennia find Big Frog on the Fall Path.
And they laid some hugs on him...who wouldn't? Hug a frog?

What's New in the Doll World? Current Events!
Image
The dolls were hanging around waiting for a little attention yesterday...
There I was glued to the TV like an adventure movie was coming on...
Gradually several dolls gathered to watch with me. They pulled up chairs, they asked if they could make popcorn.
I tried to say I don't know if this event is going to be suitable for viewing, for the children.
I don't know if it is going to be a horrorish story. Or if there was going to be a happy ending.
We ushered out most of the little ones.
But quite a few remained interested, even after I warned them it was grown up stuff, world stuff, human stuff...
The ones who stayed made popcorn...
And I hoped I had the stomach for what we were about to watch!
Hope for the best.

Well, this popcorn vending machine is kind of new...a thrift store find!
It actually makes popcorn!
And one of these days we'll get out our cinema diorama backdrop and do a photo shoot. Movie and popcorn!
We also brought home the artist easel in the school diorama, in a post coming up.

I am loving the fall outfits on the kids!
We got out every apricot, orange, green, black, and brown piece of wardrobe we have here.
And then when that wasn't enough to go around we reached for our orange ribbons and hairties.
We had fun sorting jewelry and setting aside some pieces that can work for dolls.

The boys made it to school!
It looked to me like it was a lot of fun learning...

We had an evening of TV watching. We watched The Great Debate...a story about two people vying for a Crown.
Afterwards we all voted on who we would pick to be the leader.

But before we could count, arguments broke out about which leader would give the most treats and the longest recesses.
Seriously?

So You-Know-Who sent the arguers to bed...

And we stayed up to watch the discussions about the present and how it will affect the future and what has happened in the past.
Tomorrow we have to talk about success through cooperation, imagination, and longer recesses.
What is coming up this week?
The children make a mess in the classroom! Or are they just...learning?
Get ready for Halloween!
Are the Iples going to invite us to Dolltown Abbey?
They can feel the darkness coming closer.
A few more nights till Halloween...their favorite time.

What's New in the Doll World? Halloween!
Image
Well, it's downright scary out there in the Doll World at Halloween! The photos have begun on Instagram. It's sequential. Although the Halloween Dolls Search shows up both dolls and human "dolls".
There's lots on Pinterest. Very freaky. No wonder so many humans are freaked out by dolls. There is some very creative and well done scary doll stuff.
I don't stay long on those pages and boards. I want to continue loving my dolls.
I have my own streak of appreciation for the odd, like bringing out Queeny's head for a picnic.
But I know Queeny, as a whole doll, and she doesn't have her lips sewn shut. Ew.
So this adorable Madame Alexander is all you'll get from my Halloween doll exploration this week.
And you'll have to search yourself, if you want to see more. I won't be responsible for leading anyone to photos that could possibly turn them off dolls!
No way...love dolls.

Halloween at Dolltown Abbey!
It's begun...
All the Little Darlings are dressed.
Too excited to wait!
We are thrilled to be invited to the Moon Arch room at Dolltown Abbey, for Halloween!
Look at this room! Open to the cool outside! And I am sure that full moon is out every night!
The Dark Tree Path already has Halloweeners on their way.
We already have photos up...The room is ready and witches and elves are arriving!
And more Halloween stories over the next days!
And we have been reading the Halloween stories from last year, to help the time go by!

Time to dress up for Halloween!
We have two witch outfits this year!
Thanks to Pachom Suesuwan, Jiyoon is wearing a new little Halloween outfit.
Last year, we had a very cute Paola Reina witch outfit...and ALL the girls had to share! This year Lula is wearing it.
Some of the girls are dressed in orange and black (Evie's dress is covered in cobwebs, watch for it!).
Some of our Little Darlings are wearing old fashioned dresses for costumes.
And Tink is dressed as a little elf, and Zoey wears her 1st Nations outfit, complete with feather hair ties. Nice, Zoey! It's the outfit she arrived in!

Miley's Musings...
Image
Well, we had music classes and math classes this week at Dolltown School.
And Priscilla had to step in to get the little children back in line, when the teacher was out of the room...
Priscilla! What is wrong with clothespins used as hairties!
Really, was she stepping in to smarten up the little girls' behaviour? Or did she secretly want to join the fun?
I think she looks cute covered in colored clothespins...don't you?
And the Little Darlings got into a jewelry box during their lunch break, returning to schooladorned!
But let's face it. The big news this week is the invitation to the Dolltowners for Halloween celebrations at Dolltown Abbey!
So exciting! I went to take photos of Vikka, Skeleton, and Black Cat getting theMoon Arch Room ready.
No Iples in site (at least there in the room)!
But our little witches, Jiyoon and Lula, arrived early, with Tink and Zoey right behind them...
So you get a peek at what's to come!
I know the Little Darlings are on their way, already on the path to Dolltown Abbey.
And You-Know-Who wants those Iples to show up...keep an eye on these young ones.
Oh relax, YKW! I am sure they are lurking on the path....
Earlier when I caught a glimpse of them, the Iple Juniors were trying hard not to look excited with Halloween finally upon us. But the glints in their eyes gave them away.
What is coming up this week?
And more Halloween....
Will we have Skittle treats this year?
