What's New in Dolltown?

The New Zealand family...
We have 7 new little babies and toddlers.
They are a real hit with the Little Darlings! The girls love the NZ's grass and feather outfits. And some are very impressed with the tattoos on a couple of them.
No Tink! Don't even think about it!
Put that felt marker away!
And Little Darling Coco!
Last week we talked about a dolly change up. And Conner "went on assignment".
Now the Little Darlings have a chance to meet our "new" girl. Leau brings Coco to the beach, where Evie comes to play with her, and take her to meet the others.
And sure enough, Birdy buddies up with Coco. And Rosa hangs out with Scout.

Want your own fierce Maori Warrior Doll?

Here's a link I found online when I was researching the little dollies who arrived in Dolltown...

Shop New Zealand

From the site...

Maori doll dressed in real feather cloak and grass skirt.

The Maori dressed in different designs according to tribe and their rank within the tribe. Dressing was taken very seriously and was considered an art form.

Traditionally tattooed Maori warriors will approach a visitor with wild facial grimaces and intimidating actions to determine the visitors’ intentions.

Now, if we just had some music...

More creativity! The little girls at the beach borrowed ideas from the Little Darlings and wore sundresses and pantaloons, when they came up short with bathing suits!
But look what happened at Terri Lee's shindig when Asa told Daniel he had to have a shirt on. And Daniel had to find Will and get his striped tank back...
What about Will?
Really! Something has to be done about the clothes situation, for the boys especially!
We need a Value Village for dolls! The trouble is, dolls don't grow. So people are not turning out too-small doll clothes!

Lula's New Zealand babies are so cute!
We can't wait to get them together with the Dolltown babies...all sizes! Vintage and new (relatively speaking).
And Coco is a hit with the Little Darlings...big blue eyes and a sweet nature. Birdy took her out exploring!
The children had fun at the beach! Gabby still needs help getting around. Her legs have been wobbly since the spring. Gabby gets her friends to pull her around in a bucket!
What a kid!
Where are we in this photo?
At Terri Lee's! We had a big end-of-the-summer shindig in Terri's yard for all the Dolltowners and I can't wait to show you the photos! So many Dolltowners!
Who was there? The young Terri Lee's, the Disney girls, Crissy, Kimberley, Hal, Betsy and her boy... Also our character dolls (including Sophie in a Frame!), the 1st Nations dolls (Ernie anyway, who is usually close to our vintage Terri). AND the Iples ALL came!
And...(drum roll) You-Know-Who is introducing her new additions to Dolltown!
Doll and puppet gifts from her girls!
Of course, the Little Darlings are coming to Terri's this week, before school starts.
And I think The Children will make it too.
What else is coming up this week?
Well, the Ellowynes are home...
The bjd Iples emerged to spend time in the shade at Terri Lee's and hang out with each other!
The Children get ready for school!

The Hand-Me-Down Doll

by Steven Kroll

Illustrated by Dan Andreasen

$1 Kindle

$10.79US Hardcover

Age level 5-8

From the summary:

A beautiful doll with long, dark curls and a velvet coat has been passed from owner to owner: a spoiled little girl, a farmer and his wife, a woman who works the ring-toss booth at a county fair, a chauffeur, a waiter, and a dirty-faced boy. Keep me and love me and give me a name, begs the doll. Finally, her luck changes when she meets a little girl who appreciates her and takes her home. Originally published in 1983, the slightly shortened text is beautifully interpreted in Dan Andreasen's nostalgic oil-painted illustrations.

This book has good reviews and a lesson about kindness!

I have no idea!
I have been WAY too busy looking after Terri Lee's End-of-Summer Shindig.
We are talking about 100 dolls! Well, more or less... Not all of them have shown up.
I think the Barbies are still in Cabo, holidaying. And the Ellowynes are just not communicating.
Most of the dolls have to be dressed and brought to her country house. Like these adorable "young" Terri Lee dolls, the daughters of vintages Terri Lee and Queeny.
Some dolls come dressed, like the beautiful Indonesian puppets you can see here behind the girls and a lovely Porcelain Geisha. The former was brought by one daughter from an Indonesian village. And the latter was sent from England by our other daughter.
Pop over to see these special new Dolltown additions!
Thanks, girls! I feel loved!

A bathtub!
Actually, it's a planter I think...
A friend texted me that she had put away a bathtub for me at our local 2nd hand store.
Now, that's one of the upsides of people knowing that I am a doll collector!
I went down the next day and brought this home for $4.

Terri Lee's event brought out some cute fashion...
The Little Darlings in Basic Dresses!
Crissy, Kimberley, and the young Terri Lees in pretty dresses!
And in the photo... Disney Toddler Princesses in Little Darling sundresses! We were very surprised when we finally tried the Little Darling clothes on these Disney princesses!
It was the Disneys' rather big heads that made me think the clothes would not fit.

What a fun event for Dolltown!
Terri Lee invited EVERYONE to her End-of-Summer Shindig! From Ernie and his niece, to the Iples...
Queeny made a brief appearance and then retired to the house. Some HUMANS don't think that a doll'shead should appear in public sans body.
It's a DOLL! But out of consideration for...humans, Queeny (known by some of the other dolls as the Head Doll) is staying inside.
Until the dancing starts anyway!
At the shindig the beautiful puppets, and our new Japanese Porcelain were introduced.
I think it is really time for You-Know-Who to give names to a few of the newcomers. Newcomers? That cute boy has been here for months.
If you saw what YKW goes through with her naming process you would know why some of the dolls still don't have names. Can anyone say Initial Sound List? How about...Middle Vowel List? YKW has a BOOK of lists.
The Iples came to Terri's Shindig! We love it when they show up. The Character dolls came, the Dollteens, the Tweens and a few children.
And there's more to come...
Next week?
The photos of the Little Darlings with Terri will be posted. So cute in their Basic Dresses!
But there is trouble brewing... You won't BELIEVE what has happened. Lula Star is beside herself.
Lucky we have a new Security Guard in Dolltown. To look for lost...
Well, just you wait!
What else is coming up this week?
The rest of Terri's Shindig...will there be photos of the picnic? The dancing?
The Ellowynes are home...but they are keeping to themselves. Why?
The Children get ready for school! Their clothes are all laid out!
The photos posted this week...
Little Darlings... Just a hint

Doll comparisons!
We have talked about Sharon's blog here before. Sharon is a longtime doll collector with a great variety of dolls, from bjd's to Little Darlings to Sashas to Zwergasnes and Natterers.
I was googling a comparison between the size of Sashas and Zwergasnes...
We have some vintage Sasha's and I was checking dresses for them on eBay.
One of our favorite doll dressmakers at specialdelivery2006 on eBay had clothes for both, Sashas and Zwergasne dolls. (Very cute smocked dresses! Great prices!)
So I googled to see the difference in sizes and the google search tossed up a great photo from Sharon's site. This is not it! But the link will take you to it.
I just couldn't surprise you with a photo of clothesless dolls, without notice!
I love comparison photos! They really helped me develop Dolltown!

This week, it's a tiny, heavy metal chair from the same friend.
I used it this week to help the Ellowynes stand up. Sometimes dolls just needs a tiny prop to help them keep their balance!
And Bead Smiley is taking a rest on it. He thinks the chair is made for him! We just flick him off when we need the chair vacated. He still smiles!

For Terri's End-of-Summer Shindig, the Little Darlings all dressed in what I call the Basic Dress, a simple, patterned, waisted cotton dress that can be dressed up or down.
Here they are definitely dressed down...no ribbons, no shoes!
Once again, kudo's to Pachom Suesuwan atpachom10 and Kathy Groulx at tkctcrafts for these dresses.
I am looking again at this style for some autumn fillers, orange for the LD's, and ANYTHING! for the littler children!
So far the little girls adjust to the seasons, with different colored RIBBONS!
But we'll see. First the gas bill. It's getting cold here at night!
Doll dresses can't keep us warm in the cold weather!

Terri's event continues...a fun, weeks long event for Dolltown!
Terri Lee invited EVERYONE to her End-of-Summer Shindig. This week we see the Little Darling girls in their colorful dressesand...(drum roll)...the ELLOWYNES!
Without warning, the Ellowynes arrived en masse!
Actually they came in two batches...
The local girls, Willow and her friends, including Eddie and Wiz.
The City girls, with Yelena, Dee and the rest. With Knox, of course! (Tonner Peter Parker to doll collectors).
And local girls, Willow and Bandy were there to visit with the City group before they head back.
Terri and Queeny headed outside for a while to visit with them, catch up on the Ellowyne's travels.
It was so nice to see them. It feels like they have been gone for months! But I guess it was just the summer...
So, exciting stories for the week with the Ellowynes showing up, Lula's missing baby, and Xennia with her own baby.
Imagine! Children wanting babies to look after! My cat is enough, thank you!
And hang in, Terri! You are a great host for ALL the Dolltowners!
What else is coming up this week?
The rest of Terri's Shindig...
*The Babies, so cute! with Daycarers Cindy and Darlene...and Magic Barbie and     Silent Sam!
It takes a village...
*Vintage Cindy and Darlene meet Guard One and Guard Two...hmmmm, romance    brewing? Doubledate coming?
*Maybe the Iples' Dolltown Abbey? Is it true that Jiyoon has invited the Little Darlings to get ready for school in her new room?
Can't wait! I want to go!
I'll offer to put ribbons in their hair so I can be there to the action!
The Children visit Terri. Some are ready for school, some are still barefoot! Come on, boys! Stragglers!

It was true!
There is a beautiful new Playroom at Dolltown Abbey! And Little Darling Jiyoon gets to stay there...with the Iples!
Jiyoon and her BFF Maggie invited all the Little Darlings to come and get dressed for school...
But let's not get ahead of ourselves. That photo shoot will be happening next week. If we are lucky the first batch of photos will go up as early as tomorrow.
This week, the Babies arrived at Terri's in Vikka's flower cart. Magic Barbie and Silent Sam were on hand to help the Vintages Darlene and Cindy care for all the babies and toddlers.
And yes, our Dolltown Guards came to check out our beautiful Dee an Cee Daycarers. Photos!
After they all left, the Odd Ones came...you know, Monster High Catrine Demew and her MH friend, and Bratzilla Jade J'Adore and a miscellany of other odd dolls.
What a motley crew!
We were treated to a wonderful picnic at Terri Lee's. We were too busy eating to take pictures. BUT we did photograph our three sweet Paola Reina's because they prepared the food in Terri's kitchen, packed the basket and brought it out!
We were thrilled to hear that these cuties have apprenticed with the Terri Lee cooks!
There are so many mouths to feed here in Dolltown...
What is coming up this week?
The Little Darlings get ready for school!
And...(drum roll)...guess who was found! And guess who found him!
Lula is so relieved, and thankful to Tink and Xennia.
Phew!
AND some of our Attic Dolls! So excited! They made it to Terri's country home!!

MDCC 2016!
Recently, some happy doll collectors returned from MDCC, the Modern Doll Collectors Convention, with dolls...
MDCC 2016
Convention 2016
Jewels and Juleps
Sept 21-24/16
Louisville, Kentucky
Featuring Berdine Creedy Originals
One of our favorite doll designers, Berdine Creedy, was the featured doll designer at this well attended convention.
And it looks like she had some wonderful dolls on display, and for sale.
It also sounds like she gave a fun and interesting talk about her history in doll designing. And where she's at now…
For more info on Berdine and her dolls, check out her site, Berdine Creedy Originals

Photo below, our own Berdine Creedys...

The Modern Doll Collectors Convention organization is a favorite with doll collectors.
From the MDCC site:
Who we are…
We are your neighbor, your internet buddy, that new emerging doll artist and the company whose dolls you have loved since childhood.  Modern Doll Collectors are folks just like you who enjoy and appreciate modern dolls, both as an art form and as an opportunity to play!  Owned by Modern Doll Inc. and governed by a Board of Directors whose officers have been active in the doll community for many years, Modern Doll Collectors Convention® does not require formal membership or annual dues and is open to all.
Check out the MDCC site…sometimes they have dolls for sale! There are a few there now....a cute Berdine Creedy, Helen Kish, Judy Porter, Even a little Kim Lasher! And others!
There is also a page of excellent links for interested doll collectors!
It sounds like everyone who attended the convention had a wonderful time!
I think we’ll put it on our Wish List…going to an MDCC sometime.
At a location near us. lol

Horses!
Some of these horses are definitely NOT new, like the Attic My Little Ponies. Vintage!
And several of these horses have been in Dolltown long enough for the children to get to know them...even learn how to ride them.
But they have not had any photo time.
We found them hanging out on the Path when all of us were scouring Dolltown for the lost baby.
And I stopped to take some photos!
Our Agnes Dreary, Vikka, loves the big horse we brought in for Lee to ride the Dolltown perimeter. She rides bareback!
(She also invites Guard One to do the same...which doesn't go over very well.)

We had a very busy week!
*Children on horses by themselves on the Path...Guard One had to get busy!
*Attic Friends...Sasha dolls, Babyface, and Stuffies visit Terri just before she takes a much needed break!
*Tink and Xennia surprise Lula with her beloved little Maori Warrior baby. How long was he lost? Poor thing!
Found under a cabbage!
Just in time! You-Know-Who thought Lula was ready to hop into a travel box and ship herself back to Lani, taking the rest of her New Zealand babies with her. THAT disaster was averted...
*And getting ready for school in Jiyoon's new Playroom. Despite all of YKW's school clothes planning, things went a little awry at the last minute...with missing sweaters and dolls wearing the wrong dresses. But the girls stayed cheerful, helped each other with buttons and ribbons, and everything worked out in the end!
Way to go girls!
And way to go, Jiyoon and Maggie...who laid out all the clothes and accessories andkept everything running smoothly.
They were so exhausted in the end, they lay flat on Aunty Suzy's pink quilt and just gazed at the beautiful sky light!
All the Little Darlings are looking...well, darling! Ready for school now. Just lunch boxes and new pencils to gather.
Then it's off to the Schoolroom....
What is coming up this week?
School! The Schoolroom is ready.
Teacher Sky is warming up at the piano.
The Little Darlings gather for first day photos...
Did I hear the Ellowynes are setting up their Pop Up Shop, finally? We'll see.
I also heard the Iples are taking new security training on their home planet.
(What?! Who said that? That doesn't sound real!)
