Meanwhile, the Iple girls have emerged. While everyone is at the River, they have made it to the bridge. First Aira, then Odelle...

The Iple girls need more clothes! And since we have been following the creative process of Fashion Doll Stylist, April, we saw an opportunity recently while standing at the sock counter of a local store... Never mind eBay bjd clothes...how about a pair of scissors and a sock just the color of Aira's eyes! And I like the results! Aira now has two skirts and two tops! And the other girls have tube tops and skirts too. Now there are a few glitches to work out, and I see a need for a little...

Just before the Little Darlings all disappear to play, color, and watch movies, Birdy spends a minute with Aira.... And then the Iple girls gather for a few photos, and gifts. And Miley, Dolltown News reporter and Ballet Doll with her. And then Tonner American Model Glamour Too (really? I have to type that every time?), our Arlen. And Asa herself. Our Iple giant...24" of beauty and quiet. Asa has discovered my jewels, my gems...and wears a coral garnet for Christmas adornment. (Hey Tink. This...

What!? Asa has invited, not only our reporter Miley, but ALL the Dolltown dolls. Does she understand what she is in for? Actually yes. She worked it out with the Juniors here, and with Lee and business partner, redheaded Arlen. They know the numbers and have worked out a schedule!! (We do say we have 100 dolls here, although that number fluctuates.) It will take more than one day, they figure... Tell me about it. I am the photographer. Phew! And Miley, who was first, and came the day before the...

That's Miley, here on the right (with her cat). She's our Dollygood.News reporter (sign up for our weekly newsletter!) She is reporting on her surprising visit with Asa... It happened! Asa invited us to her Room at Dolltown Abbey! It's very beautiful, with a round window. I sat with Asa for the afternoon and we shared stories of our previous lives. Asa shared stories of her childhood... With us dolls, our "childhood" is subjective, isn't it? Some of us are made to stay babies, some of us look...

They came with names, most of them. Then I gave them names myself, when I got them, most of them. And some of them have had their names changed since then. For a variety of reasons. This is an Iplehouse "Tania" sculpt. You can find her by googling this name. You can choose her skin color, and levels of movement you want her to have, and her face-up, if you actually order her. And you can choose her hair and eyes once you have her. And those things can change the name you think she should have....

An odd thing about bjd's.... That stands for ball joint dolls, for any newbies to the doll world. Before I communicated with other doll collectors, and before I started to hang out on bjd Flickr pages and blogs, I imagined that the bjd dolls I was pouring over, came from another...place. A fantasy world, or as Phoebe puts it, a parallel universe. The world created itself in my mind, populated with gods, fairies, elementals, giants, spirits...dolls with special powers or attributes. I started to...

No wonder he's confused, poor lad... (You mean besides the fact that he looks like a girl? ...That's enough! There's a different standard of masculinity in the bjd world. Don't get me started!) Jack has discovered that he is a r-e-c-a-s-t. I told him he was a knockoff when he asked why he was different than his Iplehouse brothers. It was...kinder. Recasts (shhh!) are not respected in the doll world. My friend didn't know when she gifted me with this beauty. (Who could resist him! He looks like...
